Activity

The activity is aimed to the nanostructured lithium-ion and lead-acid battery field, used for electric traction, and the accumulation of alternative energy production systems or portable systems. Nanowires represent a key technology for the construction of next generation electrochemical devices for energy storage based on nanostructured materials. The company has operational centers by the universities of Palermo, where R&D activities are based, and Bologna, where testing and characterization ones are realised. Although very encouraging first results, CR MoSS project is at its early stage, during which the goal was to demonstrate the higher performances of nanowires, applied to energy storage devices, compared to traditional materials.

Results and patents

Although very encouraging first results, CR Moss project is at its early stage, during which the goal was to demonstrate the higher performances of nanowires, applied to energy storage devices, compared to traditional materials. Cr Moss has developed and tested the manufacturing process, achieving positive results, for:
- nanostructured SnCo anodes for Li-ion batteries
- nanostructured Pb02 cathodes
- nanostructured PbO anodes
- gel electrolytes.

The R&D activity developed from the company until this stage produced three different patents respectively on:
1. Manufacturing process of SnCo nanowires: patent nr.0001389065
2. Manufacturing method of a high density electrolyte and electrolyte created with this process: patent pending nr.VI2010A000333
3. Lead electrode, manufacturing process and the acumulator: patent pending nr.VI2011A000037
